Kanohar Electricals, established in 1972 in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, is a domestic transformer manufacturer and engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) solutions provider that has evolved from conventional transformer production into a specialist supplier for power transmission, railways, renewable energy and power distribution. Its core business spans two segments: transformer manufacturing and EPC for substations and transmission lines; the product portfolio includes power transformers, traction transformers, Scott transformers, shunt reactors and distribution transformers, with recent additions such as Scott-connected transformers for railway electrification. The company’s expertise lies in designing and building customized, high-voltage transformers and executing turnkey substation and transmission projects up to 400 kV, supported by backward-integrated facilities and in-house testing capabilities. A distinguishing strength is its certification profile: as of September 2025 it was among only five Indian companies with short-circuit test certification for 500 MVA, 400 kV power transformers and one of a handful certified by the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) to manufacture 100 MVA, 132 kV and 220 kV Scott transformers for Indian Railways. Its principal customers are government and public-sector entities, including Power Grid Corporation of India, Indian Railways, Bhutan Power Corporation and various state utilities, which together accounted for the overwhelming majority of its order book.
